The popular WhatsApp messenger will introduce a new feature, thanks to which, when transferring an account to a new device, an option to confirm the action will appear on the old one. This is stated in the official blog of the messenger.
“When moving a WhatsApp account to a new device, it’s important for us to make sure you’re the one doing it. Now, as an additional security measure, a notification will be displayed on the old device with a request to confirm the action, “the developers said. It is specified that if an outsider tries to transfer the account to a new device without the user’s knowledge, thanks to this function, the owner of the profile will receive an alert.
WhatsApp will have other updates that improve security, the blog said. In particular, users will be able to automatically check the security codes performed in the “Encryption” section. “Thanks to this innovation, when you go to the “Encryption” section, you can instantly make sure that your correspondence with the selected contact is protected,” representatives of the messenger noted.
In addition, they said that the service will implement account verification measures that will protect it from hacking. Additional actions on the part of the user will not be required.
